1999 Barolo Podere di Sorano


Garnet red in color with aromas that include wild flowers, berry, spices, leather, truffles, wood, and earth. Flavors carry from the nose with a rich, full and smooth feel, balanced tannins, and good depth round off this refined yet austere classic Italian Barolo.

  • Pairing: Grilled red and white meats. Braised meats with articulate construction, wine reduction sauces and other (as the winemaker refers to it as) Haute Cuisine.

  • Size: 750

  • Vinification: Maceration about 1-15 days, with temperature controlled fermentation. Use of Submerged cap technique which occurs after initial fermentation, this process takes about 40 days.

  • Soil: Fertile

  • Aging: Aged for 6 months in stainless steel, then about 28 months in slovonian oak barrels, and finished in glass bottles for 10 months before commercial release.
