1997 Valtellina Sfursat Nino Negri

Award winning Italian wine. Deep garnet color with accents of terracotta and fire red; the unique, extremely elegant aromas include plum, raisin, wild berries, preserves, clove, cinnamon, hazelnut, herbs and tar. Complex, alluring flavors carry from the nose, this Italian red from the Lombardy region is full bodied with a well balanced dryness with just enough acidity, and a long finish. For optimal results wine should be aged at least 10 years; this wine will age well and long term aging is encouraged. (2008 would be the first year the winemaker would have encouraged consumption as we are now in the sweet spot and this wine is ready to be tasted and enjoyed now).
