2003 Taurasi Fatica Contadina

The Winemaker quotes Hugh Johnson circa 1971, stating that Taurasi is the dark monarch of the Aglianico family; while this may or may not be true Taurasi certainly has some characteristics of Aglianico; with potent flavors and aromas, sugar as well as unique bouquet. additionally Taurasi is rich and multifaceted and has documented history predating the creation of the city of Rome. Taurasi is one of the most prestigious red Italian varietals and has a loyal if not voluminous following. This Italian red wine is brilliant ruby red in color with aromas of prune, cherry, black pepper, tar, spice and forest. Flavors carry nicely from the nose with a thick, full bodied taste, good balance, pronounced tannins and a long finish.
